Marius's remand period extended – this is how the defense commented
Norwegian 'bonus prince' Marius Borg Høiby will remain in custody as his numerous criminal charges are currently being processed in court.
Marius Borg Høiby, often referred to as Norway's 'bonus prince', is facing an extension of his remand period as various criminal charges against him are ongoing in the judicial system. Høiby was taken into custody shortly before his trial commenced due to suspicions of new crimes. Earlier in February, an Oslo court decided that he would remain in remand until March 2, unless a new decision was made regarding his status. This has since been extended automatically, according to reports from VG newspaper.
The regulations in Norway state that if a defendant is placed in remand during trial, they automatically remain in custody for several weeks following the trial's conclusion and until the verdict is announced. This means that Høiby could remain incarcerated for an extended period as his case unfolds. Andreas Kruszewski, a representative from the Oslo police, emphasized that the court systems in place ensure that the status of the accused is maintained during this sensitive phase of the legal process.
For Høiby to be released from remand, he would need to formally request his release. His defense attorney indicated to VG that Høiby might be considering such a request. This development raises questions concerning his future as the legal proceedings continue, placing significant scrutiny on his situation as he navigates this legal battle associated with his high-profile status.
