K. Mitsotakis: Greece has become a significant pillar of energy security - Research drilling after 40 years
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis stated that Greece has transformed into a vital player in energy security, announcing that after 40 years, research drilling will take place in Greek territory.
In a recent parliamentary session, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis emphasized the transformation of Greece's status in the energy sector, declaring that in 2019, the country was an insignificant player but has now emerged as a crucial pillar of energy security in the region. Responding to questions from Nikos Androulakis, the leader of the PASOK-KINAL party, Mitsotakis defended his government's energy policies and highlighted efforts to enhance Greece's energy independence and security amidst global energy challenges.
Mitsotakis announced that for the first time in 40 years, there would be research drilling conducted within Greek territory, a significant milestone that reflects Greece's renewed focus on exploring and utilizing its energy resources. This initiative aims not only to enhance energy security but also to boost the economy and reduce reliance on foreign energy sources, particularly in the context of rising energy prices worldwide.
The Prime Minister also criticized Androulakis for distorting the facts regarding the government's energy policies, asserting that the current administration is paving the way for a more secure and sustainable energy future for Greece. This conversation comes at a critical time when energy security is becoming an increasingly important concern in Europe, highlighting Greece's strategic role in the regional energy landscape.
