Jeonbuk 'Town Hall' Outside Citizens: 'Transmission Tower Pain' 'Measures for Saemangeum Wastewater'
Citizens outside a town hall meeting in Jeonbuk express their discontent over plans for high voltage transmission towers and demand measures for wastewater management in Saemangeum.
On the 27th, citizens and civic groups, unable to attend a town hall meeting with President Lee Jae-myung in Jeonbuk, publicly conveyed their grievances regarding the construction plans for high voltage transmission towers and the need for environmental measures related to wastewater in the Saemangeum area. The Jeonbuk Anti-Transmission Towers Committee held a press conference, calling for a comprehensive review and cancellation of the transmission network construction plan linked to the development of the Yongin semiconductor national industrial complex. They firmly stated that Jeonbuk should not be treated as a 'power colony' of the metropolitan area and advocated for institutionalizing the principle of energy production and consumption within the same region, abolishing long-distance transmission.
