The Greek National Opera is set to perform in New York for the first time with a concert dedicated to the works of Greek composers inspired by Nikos Kazantzakis.
The Greek National Opera (ΞΞΞ£) is making a remarkable debut at Carnegie Hall in New York City, scheduled for October 15, 2026. This special concert, titled "Nikos Kazantzakis: An Odyssey in Music," aims to showcase a panoramic view of Greek classical music, featuring notable works from acclaimed composers such as Manos Hadjidakis, Mikis Theodorakis, Nikos Skalkottas, Dimitris Mitropoulos, and George Koumentakis. Under the baton of internationally renowned conductor Vasilis Christopoulos, who currently serves as the music director of the Graz Opera in Austria, the performance will feature the internationally acclaimed mezzo-soprano Anita Rachvelishvili and Greek soprano Maria Kostraki.
