Finland's economy grew slightly last year

Finland's GDP increased by 0.2 percent last year, according to Statistics Finland.

Statistics Finland announced that Finland's GDP experienced a slight growth of 0.2 percent last year, primarily due to a low base at the beginning of 2024. The last notable growth prior to this was recorded in the third quarter of 2024, indicating that the overall increase for the year was mainly influenced by earlier economic struggles. In the fourth quarter alone, the GDP grew by 0.4 percent, marking a recovery in private consumption from the previous quarter.

The growth in industrial production was particularly strong in the forestry and chemical sectors during the first and second quarters. However, these industries faced contraction in the third quarter along with the metal industry. Fortunately, by the end of the year, both the metal and chemical industries regained momentum, contributing positively to the overall economic outlook despite previous setbacks.

Construction growth was modest, showing slight increases in the second quarter but contracting again in the third quarter. Encouragingly, residential construction turned around and posted positive growth in the final quarter of the year, helping to stabilize the construction sector amidst a mixed economic environment throughout the year.
