The State Revenue Service has simplified the income declaration form
The State Revenue Service of Latvia has streamlined the 2025 income declaration form, reducing the number of fields and clarifying terminology.
The State Revenue Service (VID) of Latvia has introduced a simplified version of the 2025 income declaration form in its Electronic Declaration System (EDS). This revision includes clarification of several terms and a reduction in the number of fields that need to be filled out. It aims to help taxpayers better understand which incomes need to be declared, resulting in a more user-friendly experience for users.
Notably, taxpayers will no longer need to choose between filling out a 'Simplified' or 'Detailed' declaration form, as the system will automatically populate essential information from VID's data resources. Importantly, results are now explained in text rather than highlighted with colored borders, which may enhance clarity for the users. This transition signifies an intention to make tax declaration more straightforward and transparent.
As in previous years, taxpayers can attach their and their family members' justified expense documents when submitting their declarations. Documents sent through the mobile app 'Mans VID' will automatically appear in the EDS section for justified expense documents. Furthermore, the term 'tax surcharge' has been replaced with 'payment', reflecting a shift towards simplifying tax terminology and improving taxpayer comprehension, which the VID hopes will enhance compliance and reduce confusion regarding tax obligations.
