Jeon Han-gil, who announced his police attendance, says, 'I will attend the debate with Lee Jun-seok even if I have to wear handcuffs.'
Conservative YouTuber Jeon Han-gil, accused of defamation by Lee Jun-seok, has stated he will attend a debate on election fraud despite his police summons.
On the 27th, Jeon Han-gil, a conservative YouTuber who claimed that Lee Jun-seok, the leader of the Reform Party, was elected due to fraudulent elections, attended the police summons. Jeon stated, 'I will attend the debate even if I have to wear handcuffs,' expressing his determination to confront Lee in a debate regarding the allegations of election fraud. He was summoned by the Seoul Police for accusations of violating laws related to defamation, stemming from statements made in his live broadcast last month where he suggested Lee himself had benefited from election fraud.
During a press conference held outside the police station shortly before his appearance, Jeon criticized Lee, saying it was inappropriate for a member of the National Assembly to report a regular citizen. Jeon defended his previous remarks as legitimate questions over Lee's election legitimacy, urging transparency and challenging Lee to disclose information if he had nothing to hide. Jeon's statements have drawn considerable attention as they suggest a deepening political conflict, particularly around the integrity of electoral processes in South Korea.
Jeon expressed confidence that there would be no grounds for his arrest, asserting that he had no intention of fleeing or destroying evidence. He rebutted claims made by Lee that his police attendance was merely an excuse to avoid the debate on election fraud scheduled for later that day. This incident underscores the contentious political atmosphere surrounding South Korea's electoral integrity and reflects ongoing tensions between media figures and political leaders.
