Finland's Metso forest conservation program will continue until 2040, yet funding shortages threaten to meet conservation targets, with nearly 300 applications pending in several regions.
The voluntary Metso forest conservation program in Finland is set to extend until 2040, aimed at protecting forested areas, particularly in the Ostrobothnia regions. However, a significant funding shortfall poses a risk to achieving these conservation goals. Currently, there are 286 applications pending in the regions of Ostrobothnia, Southern Ostrobothnia, and Central Ostrobothnia, despite an allocated budget of only around 1.5 million euros, which will suffice for just a fraction of the applications received.
