In the latest edition of the World’s Best Sommeliers’ Selection for 2026, South America achieved notable recognition with 26 wines being included among the best in the world. Announced recently, the selection featured a total of 115 wines from 16 different countries, showcasing the diverse wine landscapes across these nations. It is important to note that the list does not rank these wines but acknowledges their excellence and quality as chosen by experts in the field.
Argentina led the South American representation with 12 wines selected from prime wine-producing regions such as the Uco Valley in Mendoza, the Calchaquí Valley in Salta, and the Pedernal Valley in San Juan. Following closely was Chile, contributing eight wines to the list from esteemed wineries like Vik, known for its accolades in the global wine industry. Uruguay made its mark with five wines, enhancing its reputation with two white selections amid a commendable showing of reds, while Brazil was represented by the Casa Tés Grama Branco 2024, made from Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon grapes.
