'Went to Goa for a birthday, returned with my father's corpse,' family devastated by Thar accident

A family from Bhopal suffered tragedy when a road accident in Goa took the life of their father, Bhagatram Sharma, who was celebrating his daughter's birthday.

On the evening of February 23, a severe road accident occurred at the Happy Bar Junction in Asgaon, Goa, claiming the life of Bhagatram Sharma, a 65-year-old man from Bhopal. The tragedy unfolded when a speeding rented Thar SUV collided head-on with their hatchback, leaving the car utterly wrecked. Bhagatram was visiting Goa with his family to celebrate his daughter Ruchika's birthday on February 26, marking their first vacation away from Bhopal, which turned into the most painful chapter of their lives instead.

Tushar Uniyal, Ruchika’s husband, recounted the chaotic moments just after the collision, stating that they had slowed down their vehicle near the junction to ensure no oncoming traffic was present. Suddenly, an SUV traveling at approximately 80-90 km/h crashed into them directly, leaving them in shock and disbelief for several seconds as to what had just happened. The crash was so severe that Bhagatram did not survive the impact, and the family's excitement for a celebratory trip was shattered in an instant.

In the aftermath, the family reported that the driver responsible for the accident, identified as Shaurya Goyal, was on the phone with his father at the time of the collision. This tragic incident not only illustrates the dangers associated with reckless driving, particularly in narrow roads, but also emphasizes the deep emotional scars inflicted on families by such sudden losses during what should have been a joyous occasion.
