TV UNAM prepares its first 'reality' show with university students... and it won't be like 'Big Brother'
TV UNAM is launching its first reality show that aims to promote Mexican culture through the efforts of university students traveling around the country.
TV UNAM is taking an innovative approach to engage students and promote Mexican culture through the launch of its first reality show titled "El perímetro de México." This show is designed not to mimic the format of popular reality shows like 'Big Brother' but instead will feature university students exploring various regions of Mexico. The students will create video capsules on diverse cultural and social themes to showcase the richness of Mexico, aiming to foster a deeper appreciation and understanding of the country's heritage among their peers and the broader audience.
The project, conceived by Sergio Iván Trujillo Bolio, who is both the director of TV UNAM and a biologist, highlights a collaborative effort that includes producer Javier García Rivera. The reality show is set to be broadcast weekly during prime time on the university channel, granting it significant visibility, and will also be accessible daily through social media channels linked to TV UNAM and other institutional accounts. This format not only emphasizes program engagement but also allows for real-time interaction with viewers, particularly younger audiences who are active online.
By organizing expeditions along Mexico's borders and coasts, the show aims to document and celebrate the country's vast cultural diversity. The initiative promotes a blend of education and entertainment, encouraging students to become ambassadors of their culture while documenting their adventures, thus providing a platform for university youth to explore and promote Mexican identity in a compelling, modern format.
