She traveled from Canada to meet him and ended up reporting him in Mendoza: her boyfriend charged with sexual abuse, physical violence, and deprivation of liberty

A woman from Mendoza, residing in Canada, reported her boyfriend for sexual abuse and violence after a visit to Mendoza.

A 55-year-old woman from Mendoza, who typically lives in Canada, traveled to Mendoza to visit her family and meet in person with a man she had been romantically involved with online. Unfortunately, the visit culminated in a serious incident where she accused her boyfriend, Eduardo Jesús Videla, of sexual abuse, physical violence, threats, and unlawful deprivation of liberty. The allegations emerged following an evening of escalating violence that sparked concern from neighbors.

On the night of the incident, residents of the Las Bodegas neighborhood in Coquimbito reported hearing screams and cries for help from inside the couple’s residence. They promptly contacted the authorities, leading police to respond to the situation. Upon arrival, law enforcement entered the home, where they discovered the woman in a distressing state, corroborating the claims made against Videla, who has since been detained and is awaiting legal proceedings.

The case highlights critical issues surrounding gender-based violence and the potential dangers of online relationships that escalate into real-life encounters. As the judiciary processes the case, it brings attention to the need for awareness and measures to protect individuals in abusive situations, especially in light of the increasing rates of domestic violence.
