The Department of Transit of Pernambuco (Detran) has announced the removal of the parking and ramp tests from the practical exam required for the issuance of the National Driver's License (CNH) for category B. This decision was confirmed to g1 on Thursday, referencing adherence to new guidelines established by the National Traffic Secretariat (Senatran). These new directives eliminated the parking test from the Brazilian Manual of Vehicle Driving Exams (MBEDV), which was published on February 1.

Starting February 12, the parking and ramp tests are no longer necessary for candidates in Pernambuco; this change coincided with a ceremony where the Detran delivered the first CNHs under the new “CNH of Brazil” standard. The Detran has stated that all documents issued after this date conform to the updated evaluation model, indicating a significant shift in testing protocols for new drivers in the region.

Despite the removal of these two components from the practical test, Detran has clarified that there has been no reduction in the fees associated with taking the practical test, highlighting an ongoing concern for potential drivers regarding the costs of obtaining a license.
