Group trains 164 Katsina women to lead grassroots economic, social inclusion
A total of 164 women in Katsina, Nigeria, have been trained as ward facilitators to promote economic empowerment and social inclusion at the grassroots level.
On Thursday, a non-governmental organization, the Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-up Project, successfully trained 164 women in Katsina Local Government Area, focusing on their roles as ward facilitators. This initiative aims to enhance womenβs economic empowerment, social inclusion, and financial participation within their communities, underscoring the importance of grassroots development. The training equips these women with the skills necessary to form and facilitate Women Affinity Groups, fostering collaboration and support networks among women in their respective wards.
The program not only emphasizes community-driven development but also provides practical training on the establishment and monitoring of these groups. The participants are trained to act as essential links between the local communities and the project, ensuring that the needs and voices of women are represented and addressed. By equipping them with various ICT tools, the initiative enhances their capabilities in community engagement and improves data collection and project reporting, thus bolstering the overall effectiveness of the program.
State Project Coordinator Aisha Muhammad highlighted the crucial role these facilitators will play in empowering women and strengthening community ties. This initiative is part of broader efforts to ensure that women across Katsina State have greater access to resources and opportunities for economic and social development. By fostering collaboration and engagement, the project aims to create lasting change and pave the way for more inclusive policies and support systems for women in Nigeria.
