Team Edo claimed victory in the second edition of the Niger Delta Games, held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, Edo State. They finished with an impressive tally of 52 gold, 34 silver, and 25 bronze medals, ensuring their first-place finish before the final relay races took place. Delta State followed with 39 gold medals, while the previous champions, Bayelsa, dropped to third place with only 25 golds, marking a significant upset in the competition. In addition to the sports outcomes, the Games included a Cultural Expo Night, showcasing the vibrant traditions of the Niger Delta. The dancing competition saw Ondo State emerging victorious, which added an enjoyable cultural aspect to the competitive atmosphere of the events.
