Durán Hospital inaugurates Civil Registry agency
The Enrique Ortega Hospital in Durán has opened a new Civil Registry Agency, aiming to ensure that newborns are registered shortly after birth.
The Enrique Ortega Hospital in Durán, Ecuador, has officially opened a new Civil Registry Agency on February 26. The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Vice President of the Republic, María José Pinto, highlighting the government's commitment to improving vital services. This new agency is part of a broader initiative to facilitate the registration of newborns right after they are born, promoting their legal identity from the very beginning of life.
Prior to this development, many parents faced challenges in registering their children immediately after birth. The agency seeks to streamline the process, ensuring that parents can secure the identity of their children without unnecessary delays. Daniela Zambrano, a beneficiary of this service, expressed her gratitude, stating that she was able to leave the hospital with her son Gabriel officially registered. This illustrates the positive impact such services can have on families, enabling them to access medical, educational, and social programs more effectively.
With the opening of this new agency, the Civil Registry has reached a total of 225 service points across Ecuador, including 28 agencies specifically situated within health establishments like hospitals. The Civil Registry emphasizes that birth registration is a free service that does not require an appointment or the presence of the newborn, allowing more families to ensure their children's access to essential services. This initiative not only aids in legal identity registration but also serves to enhance public health and social welfare outcomes in the region.
