AL: The Martial Arts Hall Collapsed Again in Tampere
The martial arts hall in Tampere, Hervanta, has collapsed again, reportedly during a training session.
In Tampere, Finland, a martial arts hall known as Jalitsu-halli collapsed again on Thursday, as reported by Aamulehti. The incident happened during training for the local team Ilves, which was able to evacuate the hall once they noticed the roof beginning to sag. This marks the second collapse of the hall this winter, with the previous incident occurring in December 2025 when a storm led to its partial collapse.
Heavy snowfall has been a recurrent issue for the martial arts hall, contributing to its structural failures in the past. The hall was previously taken down in 2019 due to excessive snow accumulation to prevent a potential collapse. Jari Weckman, the chairman of Jalitsu Oy, confirmed to Ilta-Sanomat that the hall had undergone snow removal and maintenance work following last week's incident.
The history of collapses raises concerns about the structural integrity of the building, especially after a similar incident in February 2018, which resulted in a controlled demolition of parts of the hall. The ongoing issues with snow load management highlight the importance of maintenance and prompt action to preserve the safety of players and infrastructure in future snowy conditions.
