Vice Ministry of Culture delivers over $1 million to winning projects of non-reimbursable contest funds in Guayas

Ecuador's Vice Ministry of Culture allocated over $1.2 million to support various cultural projects in the Guayas province for the 2024-2025 periods.

The Vice Ministry of Culture in Ecuador has announced the disbursement of $1,235,622.88 in non-reimbursable funds to support winning projects in Guayas for the upcoming 2024-2025 period. This funding is designated for a range of 34 projects under the Investment Fund for Cultural Initiatives (IFCI) for both years, aimed at enhancing cultural infrastructure and promoting artistic endeavors within the region. Specifically, $614,477.95 will go to projects in 2024, while an additional $519,894.93 is earmarked for in 2025 projects.

Additionally, eight winning projects from the National Institute of Cultural Heritage (INPC) will receive a combined budget of $101,250. The vice ministry has outlined a commitment to continue its efforts in improving cultural infrastructure nationally, which includes plans for a new National Museum, thereby centralizing and strengthening the cultural landscape across Ecuador. This plan not only emphasizes physical infrastructure but also aims to promote educational processes in the arts and culture, establishing pathways for the professionalization of the cultural sector.

In aligning with these goals, the vice ministry aims to foster the autonomy of cultural institutions as part of the National Cultural System network.
