Man attempts to kill ex-partner while she was picking up their child at daycare; gun fails twice, in ES
A man was arrested for trying to murder his ex-partner outside a daycare in Brazil after his gun misfired twice.
In Castelo, a town in southern Espírito Santo, Brazil, a 39-year-old man was arrested for attempting to murder his ex-partner situated in front of a daycare. On the afternoon of Wednesday (25), as the woman was picking up their child, the man brandished a firearm but the weapon malfunctioned twice, preventing him from executing his intent. This incident unfolded even though the victim already had a protection order against her former partner due to past threats and violence.
According to the military police, the assault escalated when the woman rejected the man's attempts to converse, leading him to physically assault her by grabbing her neck, punching her abdomen, and pulling her hair. After pulling out a revolver and aiming it at her head—only for the gun to misfire—she managed to escape and seek help. The man fled the scene following the failed attack.
Later that evening, a military police officer who was on vacation reported information regarding the suspect's intentions to the police, highlighting the ongoing threat the man posed to the woman and their child. This terrifying incident underscores the risks associated with domestic violence, particularly for victims who have previously sought protective measures against their aggressors.
