Man arrested after trying to kill ex-partner and injure 1-year-old son in MG

A 31-year-old man was arrested after attempting to kill his ex-partner and injuring their 1-year-old son in Muriaé, Brazil.

In Muriaé, Minas Gerais, a 31-year-old man has been arrested for attempting to murder his 24-year-old ex-partner just three days after their separation. The incident occurred on the night of Friday, the 20th, when the woman visited her former partner's home, accompanied by her current boyfriend and three children, to discuss matters related to a vehicle. An argument ensued after the current boyfriend left, leading to a violent attack. Following the departure of her current boyfriend, the suspect used a knife to stab his ex-partner in the back multiple times while she was holding their 1-year-old son. Fortunately, the child suffered only a minor injury to the face, but the woman sustained serious injuries, including a punctured lung. She was subsequently taken to the Emergency Care Unit (UPA) and later transferred to Hospital São Paulo for further treatment. This incident highlights the ongoing issue of domestic violence in Brazil, particularly against women, and raises concerns about the safety of children in such volatile situations. The arrest of the perpetrator brings some measure of justice, but the case underscores the need for further efforts in preventing domestic violence and protecting victims.
