Jacareí increases supervision against disturbance of peace by 80%
The city of Jacareí, Brazil, has increased its monitoring of noise disturbances by 80% over two years, leading to a decrease in recorded cases of harassment.
The Security and Citizen Defense Secretariat of Jacareí has reported an 80% increase in monitoring for disturbances in peace over a two-year period. This statistic refers to the number of calls responded to by the Municipal Civil Guard (GCM) regarding potential noise disturbances, with 2,048 responses logged in 2025, compared to 1,133 in 2023. This significant increase demonstrates the city's commitment to addressing noise issues and improving community peace.
In conjunction with the increased presence of the GCM, there has been a notable decrease in actual reported incidents of noise disturbances. In 2025, 285 cases were recorded from January to December, which is a reduction from the 341 cases reported in 2023. These figures represent cases wherein the GCM responded to calls and identified violations according to Law 5.811/2013 concerning excessive noise or sound, indicating that both enforcement and community awareness efforts may be yielding positive results.
The accomplishments reported come alongside approximately 19,000 hours of training for the guards and about 34,000 patrol and monitoring activities conducted over the year. Such comprehensive training and increased patrol activity reflect Jacareí's proactive approach to citizen safety and the maintenance of public peace, suggesting a potential model for other municipalities grappling with similar issues.
