Attempt to kill pregnant girlfriend with poison in golgappa, lover arrested

A man was arrested in Jharkhand for attempting to poison his pregnant girlfriend by adding poison to her golgappa.

In a shocking incident from the Ramkanda police station area of Garhwa district in Jharkhand, a man plotted to kill his pregnant girlfriend by lacing her golgappa with poison. Fortunately, the victim caught wind of the sinister plan in time and managed to save her life. The police arrested the accused, Saket Keshari, and he has been sent to judicial custody in Garhwa after the victim filed an application with the police detailing the events.

The victim reported that the accused had made false promises of marriage over the course of their six-year relationship, during which he had repeatedly engaged in physical relations with her. Approximately a year ago, they had a child together. However, societal and familial pressure led to their separation, restricting their contact with one another. After a few months, the accused re-established contact under the guise of marriage promises and continued their relationship, which resulted in the victim becoming pregnant again.

Currently, the victim is reported to be eight months pregnant, and the community is in shock regarding the incident. This case raises significant concerns about women's safety and the potential misuse of promises of marriage as a manipulation tool especially in the context of intimate relationships in rural areas like Garhwa. The legal implications for the accused may lead to a more extensive discussion about domestic abuse and how societal pressures can affect personal relationships.
