Ottobrunn: Fake Handymen Steal from Senior Citizen
Two fraudsters posing as telecommunication workers stole a significant amount of jewelry from an elderly woman in Ottobrunn.
On Wednesday in Ottobrunn, two tricksters deceived a senior citizen, over 75 years old, by posing as telecommunication company employees. They rang her doorbell around 12:30 PM and claimed they needed to check the phone connections. After their departure, the woman discovered several missing pieces of jewelry valued in the low four-digit euro range and promptly contacted the police.
Despite a search, the Munich police have not yet been able to locate the suspects. They have described the fraudsters only vaguely as tall, slim men aged between 30 and 40 years. The police are currently appealing to the public for assistance, seeking any information from witnesses who might have seen these men in the vicinity of Ranhazweg, Sudetenstraße, Amperweg, or Ostpreußenstraße around the time of the incident.
This incident highlights the ongoing prevalence of such scams targeting vulnerable senior citizens, raising concerns about the safety and security of older members of the community. The police's request for public assistance reflects the need for community vigilance in preventing crime and supporting vulnerable citizens against deceptive practices.
