More than 40 detained, 29 weapons and 20 motorcycles seized during operation Apollo 8

The Apollo 8 operation in Ecuador resulted in over 40 arrests and the seizure of numerous weapons and vehicles, aimed at disrupting criminal organizations.

The Apollo 8 operation, led by the National Police of Ecuador, focused on dismantling organized crime operations involved in various illegal activities, including arms and drug trafficking, kidnapping, extortion, micro-trafficking, and contract killings. Over 40 individuals were detained during this intervention, along with the confiscation of 29 firearms, 9 vehicles, and 20 motorcycles. The operation strategically targeted known crime hotspots in regions such as Durán, Distrito Sur, Portete, and Esteros.

Police Chief Pablo Dávila highlighted that the success of this operation was significantly supported by community collaboration, with citizens providing essential information through QR codes. This points to a growing partnership between law enforcement and the community in fighting crime effectively. The police's intelligence units, along with preventative and investigative units, worked together to execute this comprehensive crackdown on criminal activities.

The outcome of the Apollo 8 operation reflects an ongoing effort by the Ecuadorian authorities to regain control over areas plagued by violence and to weaken the influence of gangs and organized crime. Future operations may continue to build on this momentum, encouraging greater community involvement and cooperation with police efforts to enhance public safety and reduce criminal incidents in the country.
