Kalisz, a city in Poland, is making strides in enhancing its long-distance train services with the introduction of hourly departures for the High-Speed Rail (KDP). This upgrade is designed to facilitate easier and faster commuting for residents, particularly for students and workers traveling to larger cities such as Poznań, Łódź, and Warsaw. For instance, the travel time from Kalisz to Poznań is expected to be reduced to approximately 35 minutes, a significant improvement from the current minimum of 1 hour and 28 minutes. Similarly, the journey to Warsaw will drop to around 1 hour and 40 minutes from at least 2 hours and 40 minutes currently.

The project will also involve regional express trains, which will operate on the High-Speed Rail infrastructure until they reach a connecting line. The anticipated travel time for these regional express trains from Kalisz to Poznań is expected to be around 50 minutes, offering a time-saving of about 40 minutes compared to existing schedules. However, the operational frequency of these regional express services will depend on the regional government, which oversees transport arrangements within the area. Moreover, this railway bypass project is part of a larger infrastructure upgrade along the route of line 85, which connects Sieradz, Kalisz, Pleszew, and Poznań.
