Fraud of selling Instagram-YouTube channels, caught by technical tracing
An accused involved in defrauding people by falsely selling Instagram and YouTube accounts has been arrested in Meerut by a joint police team.
In Meerut, a joint team of the local police and the district cyber cell has arrested an accused who was involved in a scheme that defrauded individuals by selling fake Instagram and YouTube accounts. The police seized various items used in these fraudulent activities, including mobile phones, SIM cards, and forged identity documents from the accused. The operation took place on February 25, 2026, as part of an ongoing investigation into cyber fraud reports registered under the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center's portal.
The investigators employed technical methods, tracing the mobile numbers and IMEI numbers linked to the fraudulent cases registered on the portal. This analysis revealed that the implicated mobile numbers were actively being used in the Bhawanpur police jurisdiction, which led the law enforcement team to apprehend the suspect. The accused has been identified as Rishabh Khari, who resides in the village of Syall in the Bhawanpur district of Meerut.
