Two women are arrested with marijuana and cocaine at the Aracaju bus station
Two women were arrested at a bus terminal in Aracaju for transporting marijuana and cocaine in their luggage.
Two women were apprehended at the Terminal Rodoviário José Rolemberg Leite in Aracaju after they were found carrying large quantities of illegal drugs. The operation was conducted by the Civil Police, who disclosed the details of the arrest on Thursday. The investigation revealed that the drugs had originated from Salvador, Bahia and were intended for delivery in the northern zone of Aracaju. The police closely monitored the trajectory of the bus and managed to identify the suspects during a stop at the Estância bus terminal, where the officers intervened as the women disembarked in Aracaju.
During the search of their belongings, law enforcement officials discovered approximately 7 kilograms of a substance thought to be marijuana and two export-grade cocaine bricks. After the arrest, the suspects were taken to the Special Police Operations Center (Cope), where legal proceedings were initiated. In addition to the drugs, the authorities seized their cell phones as part of the investigation, which may provide further insight into their activities and possible connections to larger drug trafficking operations.
This incident underscores the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in controlling drug trafficking within Brazil, especially in regions like Aracaju, which serve as critical transit points for illegal substances moving between major cities. The authorities continue to enhance their surveillance and operational strategies to tackle drug-related crimes as part of their commitment to public safety.
