Food blogger: cooked rice can be fluffed with a fork
Food blogger Paula Särekanno shares tips on how to prepare fluffy cooked rice and highlights the health benefits of different rice varieties.
In an appearance on the television show 'Terevisioon', food blogger Paula Särekanno advised viewers on how to achieve fluffier cooked rice by using a fork to fluff it. She emphasized the health benefits of different rice types, noting that brown, black, and red rice are the most nutritious options. Särekanno also mentioned that pre-washing packaged rice before cooking is a good practice.
According to Särekanno, Basmati rice is the most commonly consumed variety in Estonia, alongside long-grain rice, both of which have similar grain characteristics. There are over a hundred different types of rice available, with Basmati rice being particularly easy to cook and a good choice for salads and stir-fry dishes. She highlighted the fluffy nature of Basmati rice and encouraged viewers to explore various kinds.
Särekanno also explained the nutritional advantages of brown rice, which retains its bran layer, making it richer in fiber and minerals compared to white rice. While it requires a longer cooking time, sometimes up to 30 minutes, it offers more health benefits. She urged consumers to always check the cooking times provided on the packaging to ensure proper preparation.
