President Yoon: 'Accelerate housing supply including third new towns' order
President Yoon has instructed to expedite the development of public housing sites in the metropolitan area, including the third new towns, emphasizing the need for efficient progress.
President Yoon Suk-yeol of South Korea has called for an expedited approach to the development of public housing areas, specifically highlighting the importance of the third new towns initiative. During a meeting with senior aides, he underscored the necessity of timely implementation, warning that prolonging the process is akin to inaction. The government had earlier committed to providing 7,500 housing units in these new towns this year.
In addition, President Yoon addressed the issue of the so-called 'marriage penalty' in terms of income criteria for loans and subscriptions. It was reported that married individuals face disadvantages compared to single persons in these areas, prompting Yoon to demand corrective measures and a comprehensive report on various instances of marriage penalties. This reflects his administration's ongoing commitment to addressing social inequalities in housing policies.
Furthermore, the President expressed his concerns about delays in the operationalization of the broadcasting and communications commission, urging swift action to ensure its full functionality. In relation to citizen complaints management, the government is looking to enhance efficiency through artificial intelligence, which could significantly improve service delivery while increasing the workforce in this sector. Yoon emphasized the need for substantial training and compensation for staff handling these responsibilities, underlining the rigorous demands of their roles.
