A school bus in Kokemäki overturned, leading to six students being taken to continuing care, though no serious injuries were reported.
A school bus transporting students overturned in Kokemäki on Thursday morning, resulting in six individuals requiring further medical attention. According to on-site fire chief Juho Salminen from the Satakunta rescue service, the bus veered off the road and tipped onto its side in a field, although it was moving at a low speed at the time of the incident. The bus contained a total of twelve people, including the driver, and all managed to exit the vehicle independently before being taken to school by another bus.
When the rescue team arrived on the scene, no individuals were present, but they were later met at the school. Six students were transported for further examination, with four taken by emergency services and two others going by private transport. Salminen specified that those who were transported were school-aged children and clarified they were not very small children, underscoring that despite the alarming situation, the injuries sustained were only minor.
This incident raises concerns regarding school transportation safety but also highlights effective emergency response protocols, as the situation resolved without serious casualties. The community's quick action ensured that the students received the necessary medical attention while maintaining safety protocols during the transportation process. Overall, the prompt response from the local rescue services mitigated what could have been a more dangerous outcome for the children on board.
