Thessaloniki: Traffic regulations on Saturday due to gatherings for the Tempi train disaster

Traffic regulations will be implemented in Thessaloniki on Saturday due to gatherings and marches commemorating the third anniversary of the Tempi train crash.

On Saturday, traffic regulations will be enforced in Thessaloniki as commemorative gatherings and marches are scheduled to take place in the city center, marking three years since the tragic train disaster at Tempi. These events are expected to draw significant attention, leading to organized changes in vehicle movement to ensure public safety and manage crowds effectively. Additionally, municipal bus routes will also see adjustments, reflecting the impact of the expected influx of participants in the demonstrations.

Starting from 10 AM on Saturday, vehicles will gradually be prohibited from entering certain areas, depending on the progress of the events. Specific streets including Egnatia, Agios Dimitrios, Ethn. Amynis, G' September, Tsimiski, and various others will experience traffic interventions, stoppages, and detours. This approach aims to mitigate congestion and provide a safer environment for both participants in the gatherings and uninvolved citizens who need to travel through the city.

Moreover, there will be a parking ban on all vehicles from 6 AM on Saturday until 6 AM on Sunday. This prohibition is part of an effort to enhance safety and accessibility for the demonstration participants, as well as to avoid potential disturbances in the flow of traffic throughout the city during this important memorial event. The local authorities are thus collaborating closely to ensure that the gatherings are conducted peacefully while minimizing disruption for regular city operations.
