Pharos’ official integration into AI Factories
Greece has formally launched the Pharos AI Factory to enhance its integration into the European AI landscape, supported by both national and European funds.
The Pharos AI Factory has officially been established as a key institutional and corporate initiative aimed at integrating Greece into the European Artificial Intelligence ecosystem. This initiative comes in accordance with Law 5263/2025 and has been registered in the general commercial register. By embarking on this project, Greece seeks to ensure organized participation in the European AI infrastructure, securing both national and European funding to support this endeavor.
At the heart of the Pharos AI Factory is a comprehensive platform designed to encompass the entire value chain of Artificial Intelligence, from development to operational processes. The primary focus of this factory will be the implementation of the Pharos project, which is positioned as the Greek AI Factory intended to accelerate innovation in AI. This initiative is part of the broader Horizon Europe program running from 2021 to 2027, which enhances collaboration among European nations in research and innovation.
The funding model for the Pharos project is notably collaborative, with 50% of the financing provided by the EuroHPC joint undertaking, alongside an equal contribution from national resources. This financial structure highlights the commitment of both Greece and European entities to advance the technological capabilities within the region, promoting AI development that can have far-reaching impacts across various sectors in Greece and beyond, aligning with larger European ambitions for technological leadership in AI.
