Delhi's Temperature High for Two Weeks! If It's This Hot in February, What Will March Be Like?
Delhi-NCR has been experiencing unusually high temperatures for the past two weeks, raising concerns about what March will bring.
Delhi-NCR is experiencing a significant rise in temperatures over the past fortnight, as February witnesses climate patterns that are markedly warmer than usual. Weather predictions by Skymet Weather indicate that for most of February, temperatures have exceeded the normal levels, with only two days recording lower figures. The unusual warmth is particularly alarming as it suggests a prematurely hot spring season ahead.
The data shows that on February 2, 2026, the maximum temperature fell to 17.5°C, which was 4.8°C below normal. However, following that, temperatures rose, peaking at 21.1°C on February 18, and since then, daily highs have continually surpassed the seasonal averages. Average maximum temperatures were recorded at 28.4°C from February 10 to 24, nearly 3°C higher than what is typical for this time of year.
As the month approaches its end, the persistent warmth raises questions about the future climate conditions for Delhi and neighboring areas, and experts caution that with the shift to March, temperatures could rise even further. This unusual weather pattern indicates a drastic change in climatic behavior, potentially leading to higher health risks and increased power and water demands as the region braces for the hotter days ahead.
