Cuba has announced that four individuals were killed and six others wounded in a confrontation involving a fast boat registered in Florida, which came under fire from Cuban coast guard patrols. This incident has escalated the already heightened tensions between Havana and Washington. According to a statement from the Cuban Ministry of Interior, the clash occurred when the American boat approached within one nautical mile of a channel in the Falconis Cay area, located about 200 kilometers east of Havana.

As the Cuban border patrol, comprised of five members, approached to identify the occupants of the boat, the individuals on board allegedly fired upon them, resulting in the injury of the patrol's captain. The government reported that four of the assailants were killed and six others were injured during the exchange of gunfire. The injured were evacuated and provided with necessary medical care. However, Havana did not disclose the identities of the deceased or the injured but emphasized that the boat was registered in Florida, reaffirming its commitment to protecting its territorial waters.
