The creator of 'La Banda del Millón' was captured: 167 marked houses and the father of two already detained leaders

Hugo David Castillo, the alleged creator of the criminal organization 'La Banda del Millón,' was arrested in Argentina as part of an investigation into a series of robberies in northern Buenos Aires.

Hugo David Castillo, aged 47, was apprehended by the DDI (Departmental Investigative Directorate) of San Isidro following a thorough investigation into the criminal activities of 'La Banda del Millón.' This organization is linked to a considerable number of robberies, with over a dozen reported in the northern suburbs of Buenos Aires. Castillo is the father of two prominent leaders of the gang, Hugo Isaías Castillo San Martín and Elías Castillo San Martín, who are already in detention.

The investigation began with surveillance of a gray Ford Focus involved in a robbery at a residence in Martínez in late November last year. This led authorities to track the vehicle to the 'La Cava' neighborhood of San Isidro, identified as one of the operational centers of the gang. Additionally, it is reported that several members of the organization, including key figures such as the Castillo San Martín brothers and Brandon Imanol Brites, are currently incarcerated in various jails across Buenos Aires, indicating a well-structured network even when members are behind bars.

According to authorities, the criminal network has marked 167 houses, targeting them for thefts across the area. The capture of Castillo marks a significant development in the ongoing efforts to dismantle this criminal organization and highlights the importance of investigative work in addressing rising crime rates in the conurbano region of Buenos Aires. The case further underscores the intricate relationship between crime and familial ties within these groups, complicating efforts to combat organized crime in Argentina.
