The digital fibromyalgia identification card is a key outcome of Law No. 8.122, which was enacted in August 2023 by Governor Rafael Fonteles, following a proposal from State Deputy Franzé Silva. This legislation makes Piauí the first Brazilian state to formally recognize the needs of fibromyalgia patients, aiming to provide them with enhanced dignity and access to necessary services.
