Elderly and people with fibromyalgia will have access to the digital wallet in Gov.pi Citizen
The Piauí Government has launched digital identification services for elderly individuals and fibromyalgia patients through the Gov.pi Citizen app to improve access and convenience.
The Government of Piauí has introduced digital identification cards for individuals with fibromyalgia and the elderly, as part of their initiative through the Governor's office and the Social Development and Assistance Secretariat. The initiative, which was launched in collaboration with the Information Technology Company of Piauí, aims to streamline access to services and digital resources for these groups, enhancing their ability to engage with technology in everyday matters.
The digital fibromyalgia identification card is a key outcome of Law No. 8.122, which was enacted in August 2023 by Governor Rafael Fonteles, following a proposal from State Deputy Franzé Silva. This legislation makes Piauí the first Brazilian state to formally recognize the needs of fibromyalgia patients, aiming to provide them with enhanced dignity and access to necessary services. The recognition also marks a significant step in creating supportive frameworks for vulnerable populations within the state.
By implementing these digital tools, the Piauí government not only provides practical benefits to the elderly and those suffering from fibromyalgia but also sets a precedent for other Brazilian states to follow. The initiative emphasizes the importance of incorporating technology in the welfare of marginalized segments of society, thereby fostering inclusivity and better community support.
