Governor of Sergipe announces purchase of 100% of Sergas shares
Governor Fábio Mitidieri of Sergipe announced the finalization of the acquisition of 100% of Sergas shares, following substantial investments in the state's gas sector.
On Wednesday, Governor Fábio Mitidieri of Sergipe announced that the state is nearing the final stages of acquiring complete control of Sergipe Gás (Sergas) by purchasing 100% of its shares. This move comes after significant investments made in the previous year, including over R$ 100 million in acquiring shares from Norgás. This year's focus is now on acquiring shares from Mitsui, bringing the total investment for these transitions to approximately R$ 300 million.
The funding for these acquisitions is sourced from the concession of Deso, aimed at ensuring that the state of Sergipe regains ownership of its own gas company. Governor Mitidieri emphasized the importance of Sergas in creating opportunities for the region, especially with the anticipated Seap (Sergipe Águas Profundas) project, which is expected to attract billions in investments over the coming years. The initiative aims to enhance the internal gas distribution network and ultimately benefit the local economy.
This strategic acquisition reflects Sergipe's commitment to strengthening its energy sector and expanding local gas distribution, which is seen as essential for economic growth in the state. The governor's announcements highlight not only the financial aspects of the purchase but also the broader vision of developing Sergipe's infrastructure and potential for energy independence, thereby fostering further economic opportunities for its residents.
