World Leaders - Who Do We Trust and Who Don’t We? Significant Surprises in CBOS Survey

A February 2026 survey shows that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has the highest trust rating among foreign leaders in Poland, though his trust score has significantly declined since 2022.

According to a survey conducted in February 2026 by CBOS, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky enjoys the highest level of trust among Polish respondents regarding foreign political leaders. The survey found that 49% of participants declared trust in him, a substantial figure, yet this reflects a significant decline from the July 2022 survey when 86% expressed their trust in Zelensky. This drop of 37 percentage points indicates changing perceptions, likely influenced by ongoing geopolitical dynamics and the prolonged conflict in Ukraine.

In addition to Zelensky, the survey highlights the trust levels in other prominent European leaders. French President Emmanuel Macron ranked second, with 36% of respondents expressing trust, while 27% indicated distrust towards him. Meanwhile, 20% of those surveyed reported a neutral stance and 17% did not respond to this question. Notably, examining the levels of trust placed in these leaders provides insight into Poland’s political sentiments and its alignment with European allies.

The shifts in public confidence toward foreign leaders can have broader implications for international relations, particularly in the context of Poland’s support for Ukraine and its stance within the EU. As the dynamics continue to evolve, understanding public opinion through these surveys helps gauge the overall acceptability and political positioning of different leaders both domestically and in the international arena.
