TJPB issues arrest warrant for former commander of Bayeux Municipal Guard investigated for domestic violence
The Paraíba Justice has issued an arrest warrant for the former commander of the Bayeux Municipal Guard in connection with a domestic violence investigation.
The Justice system in Paraíba has recently mandated the arrest of Kleber Renato Barbosa Medeiros, the ex-commander of the Bayeux Municipal Guard, who is under investigation for domestic violence. The preventive arrest warrant was issued by the 5th Mixed Court of Bayeux on Tuesday. This action follows a request from the Public Ministry of Paraíba (MPPB) for his removal from office which occurred on December 12, 2025, amid ongoing investigations into his conduct.
Kleber Medeiros had faced allegations resulting in both a criminal proceeding in the 5th Court of Bayeux and the imposition of protective measures against him to ensure the safety of the complainants involved in the case. The arrest warrant was authorized by Judge Ana Carolina Tavares Cantalice, who emphasized the importance of maintaining public order and the effectiveness of previously instituted urgent protective measures.
The local news outlet G1 reported that efforts to reach the defense of the accused have been unsuccessful thus far. This case highlights not only the legal actions being taken against a figure of authority in Bayeux but also underscores the broader issue of domestic violence within Brazilian society and the challenges surrounding accountability for public officials in such sensitive matters.
