This is the first modular micro-LNG plant in Indonesia, which operates with Argentine technology

A modular micro-LNG plant utilizing Argentine technology has been launched in Indonesia, addressing the country's complex energy logistics.

Indonesia has launched its first modular micro-LNG plant in Pasuruan, East Java, utilizing Argentine technology from Galileo Technologies. This innovative facility incorporates the Cryobox technology, which allows for the liquefaction of natural gas at its source, a significant advancement given Indonesia's logistical challenges as an archipelago of over 17,000 islands. The development is particularly important as traditional gas pipeline infrastructure is limited in many regions, requiring alternative solutions for natural gas distribution.

The project is spearheaded by PT Likuid Nusantara Gas (PT LNG), which aims to improve energy access and flexibility in Indonesia's gas supply chain. The implementation of Cryobox technology facilitates what is referred to as a "Virtual Pipeline," enabling the efficient transport of LNG from production sites to various locations, thereby overcoming the geographical obstacles faced in gas distribution across the islands.

As this facility begins operations, it heralds the potential for further projects utilizing similar technologies, with Galileo Technologies already progressing on a second, larger-scale initiative. This could mark a significant shift in how Indonesia manages its energy resources, ultimately helping the country meet its growing energy needs and enhancing its energy independence.
