Republican Memory Foundation opens registrations for visual arts exhibition of Maranhão 2026

The Republican Memory Foundation has opened registrations for the 2026 visual arts exhibition in Maranhão, inviting local artists to submit their work by March 25, 2026.

The Republican Memory Foundation of Brazil (FMRB) has officially opened registrations for the Coletiva de Maio 2026, a visual arts exhibition that highlights the creative talents of artists in Maranhão. Artists who are either from Maranhão or have lived in the state for at least five years can participate for free, with the registration deadline set for March 25, 2026. The selection results will be announced on April 5, 2026, on the FMRB's website and Instagram page.

The exhibition will showcase a variety of artworks from selected participants and will take place from May 8 to July 8, 2026, at the Convento das Mercês in São Luís. A total of 70 artworks will be displayed, featuring a theme open to interpretation across several modalities including painting, drawing, printmaking, collage, sculpture, and graffiti. Each artist is allowed to submit up to two works, ensuring that local artistic expressions are adequately represented and celebrated within the community.

This initiative not only promotes emerging local artists but also aims to enrich the cultural landscape of Maranhão. By creating a platform for artistic expression, the FMRB encourages creativity and engagement within the local community, fostering a sense of identity and heritage through art. Such events contribute to the visibility of Maranhão's unique art scene, potentially attracting attention from beyond the region and offering artists an opportunity to gain recognition on larger platforms.
