Big revelation in SIR investigation, 'Rani Begum' turns out to be Bangladeshi, passport-visa seized

A shocking case has emerged in Uttar Pradesh's Hapur district involving a woman posing as 'Rani Begum,' who has been identified as originally from Bangladesh during a voter verification process.

In a surprising development from the Garhmukteshwar tehsil of Hapur district in Uttar Pradesh, a woman identified as Mahmooda Khatoon, posing under the alias 'Rani Begum,' has been revealed to be originally from Bangladesh. This disclosure came to light during the SIR (Systematic Voter's List) verification process intended to assess voter registration accuracy. Irregularities were found in her documents, leading authorities to investigate the legitimacy of her voter registration claims.

During the verification investigation, it was determined that Mahmooda Khatoon had utilized falsified documents to create her new identity, including forged letters from the village head, Afsana. Following this revelation, Afsana lodged a formal complaint with the Garh police station. The case highlights serious concerns regarding the integrity of the electoral process and the potential for misuse of identity in local governance.

Authorities subsequently conducted a search of Khatoon's residence, where they discovered a suspicious handbag that contained critical documents linked to Bangladesh. Among the recovered items were Khatoon's passport and visa, as well as additional papers affirming her connection to Bangladesh and various amounts of local currency. This incident not only raises alarms about illegal immigration but also underscores potential vulnerabilities within the voter registration mechanisms in India, warranting further scrutiny and corrective actions.
