Attackers kidnapped and murdered a senior: it turned out they got confused

A senior named Chris Baghsarian was mistakenly kidnapped and killed by assailants who intended to abduct another individual, leading to a tragic and surreal situation for his family.

On February 13, a group of attackers mistakenly pulled Chris Baghsarian, a solitary senior resident, from his bed, believing him to be their intended target for kidnapping. Detective Superintendent Andrew Marks suggested that their real aim was to kidnap another man for ransom. This mix-up turned a planned crime into a devastating outcome for Baghsarian and his family.

The New South Wales police promptly alerted the kidnappers about their error during a series of press conferences, urging them to return the elderly man to safety. However, footage later emerged showing Baghsarian bound in an abandoned property in Dural, approximately 20 kilometers from his home, leading to a frantic search by the police. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, the senior was already reported missing by the time authorities located the site.

Baghsarian's family released a statement describing the ordeal as a 'surreal nightmare', expressing their disbelief and deep sorrow regarding the tragedy that unfolded. They noted the disheartening reality of being swept into a violent crime that had no connection to their lives, leaving them grappling with the loss of a loved one in such an unfathomable way.
