Employees of fashion brand Bypias: we cut the original labels from the clothes and replaced them with Bypias labels
Employees have alleged that Bypias has engaged in systematic false marketing practices while also creating a toxic work environment.
Bypias, a fashion brand known for its linen clothing, has made its owner, Pia Erlund, wealthy even as many other Finnish clothing companies have faced financial difficulties. However, sources interviewed by Yle allege that the company has systematically engaged in false marketing practices. Additionally, it is reported that the work environment at Bypias is challenging and stressful for employees.
The article is based on interviews with ten current and former employees, as well as five fashion industry experts, highlighting serious concerns surrounding the company's operations. Employees claim that Pia Erlund is particularly responsible for the negative atmosphere at the workplace, and those speaking out have chosen to remain anonymous due to fears of retaliation from Erlund.
For instance, previous reports indicated that Erlund designed the clothing herself. Contrarily, the sources allege that some of the garments being sold have come from ready-made collections of garment factories operating abroad, indicating a potential deception in the brand's marketing narrative.
