Project brings documentary about memory and culture of Macapá to schools
A documentary showcasing the culture and history of Macapá will be screened in local schools to promote awareness among students.
The documentary "Macapá – um Território de Memória Viva" will be shown in schools in Amapá's capital on February 25 and 26. This initiative is part of a project by the Foundation Rede Amazônica aimed at engaging students with local history, culture, and traditions, thereby reinforcing a sense of identity in younger generations. The 30-minute film highlights symbolic territories within the city and features key local figures who maintain cultural traditions, including singer Zé Miguel and cultural producer Elísia Congó.
The screenings are scheduled for the Yalysson Andrade de Moura Education Center and the Municipal School of Fundamental Education Goiás. As noted by Daniela Dias, the marketing manager for Rede Amazônica Amapá, the documentary provides a comprehensive perspective on the capital, exploring its origins, culture, cuisine, and development within the broader context of the Amapá state. This project signifies an effort to instill pride and knowledge about local heritage among students, fostering a deeper understanding of their own roots.
By presenting this documentary in schools, the Foundation Rede Amazônica aims to enrich the educational experience of students in Macapá, connecting them with their community's past and present. It is seen as a vital step in preserving and promoting cultural identity as well as keeping traditions alive for future generations. Through meaningful engagements such as these, local history and culture can continue to thrive, ensuring that young people remain aware and connected to the unique narratives that shape their identities.
