Ex-wife Ayesha Mukherjee will return 5.7 crores to Shikhar Dhawan, know the full case

A Delhi family court has ordered Ayesha Mukherjee to return 5.7 crore rupees to former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan, stating the property settlement was obtained through fraud and coercion.

In a significant ruling, a Delhi family court denied relief to Ayesha Mukherjee, the ex-wife of former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan, ordering her to return 5.7 crore rupees to him. The court concluded that the property settlement in Australia was fraudulently obtained through threats and deception. Judge Devendra Kumar Garg declared all settlement documents void and invalid, emphasizing that Dhawan had signed these agreements under pressure, extortion, and fraudulent circumstances.

The judge also directed Mukherjee to repay the amount with an interest rate of 9% annually, applied from the date Dhawan filed the case. This ruling has major implications for the ongoing legal battles surrounding their separation and financial disputes, raising questions about the validity of international property settlements when pursued through alleged unethical means.

Additionally, the Delhi court has stayed the implementation of an Australian court's orders that previously divided the couple's global assets. The Australian court had allocated 15% of the asset pool to Mukherjee, amounting to approximately 7.46 crore rupees and an additional 15.95 crore rupees. This development reflects the complexities of cross-border legal issues in divorce and property settlements, particularly when allegations of coercion and fraud arise.
