Bete Coelho and the alchemy of 'Lia Lia'
The Companhia Teatrofilme's production 'Lia Lia' will begin its journey outside major cities before moving to urban centers, featuring a unique collaboration between actresses Bete Coelho and Camila Pitanga.
The Companhia Teatrofilme is taking a different approach by launching its play 'Lia Lia' far from the urban centers, with a planned premiere in mid-March at various cultural centers in São Paulo's interior. This play is an adaptation of a book by Caetano Galindo and is directed by Gabriel Fernandes. The play is intended to challenge conventional theatrical norms by prioritizing artistic engagement in lesser-known locations before reaching larger audiences.
The production features a notable collaboration between Bete Coelho and Camila Pitanga, marking their first appearance together on stage. The play explores themes of memory and feminine experiences, highlighting the intricate layers associated with women’s stories. The aesthetic signature of the show, attributed to Daniela Thomas, further enriches the artistic vision behind 'Lia Lia,' aiming to convey profound emotional and narrative depth.
In an open rehearsal at the Instituto Brasileiro de Teatro (iBT), Bete Coelho shared insights into the creative process. She described the organic partnership with Camila Pitanga that was formed during a theater festival, emphasizing a thorough exploration of language and physical expression. Bete praised Camila's generous contribution and understanding of their company’s journey, underlining the collaborative spirit that defines the project as they prepare for its official launch.
