Suomen Sokeri Oy has announced the commencement of change negotiations at its Porkkala factory located in Kantvik, Kirkkonummi. The company has indicated that approximately 112 employees are involved in these negotiations, which could potentially lead to layoffs for 40 workers. The planned changes include the cessation of production lines for brown, powdered, and granulated sugar, with plans to replace these products with equivalents from its parent company, Nordzucker.

The company clarified that while its restructuring efforts may affect some product lines, they will not impact the production of Finnish Dansukker Suomalainen Taloussokeri, which is made from domestically sourced sugar beets.
