In a Wednesday session of the Saeima's Legal Affairs Committee on February 25, discussions were held regarding the potential for annual funding for 'Manabalss.lv', a platform designed to facilitate citizen involvement in governance. Juridiskā komisijas representatives highlighted the importance of the platform for allowing citizens to legally formulate their grievances and proposals. This mechanism, they argued, can significantly influence political discourse in Latvia.
Imants Breidaks, a representative of 'Manabalss.lv,' emphasized the platform's independence as crucial for its successful functioning, noting that it currently handles approximately 450 initiatives annually. However, not all proposals submitted receive public publication, which raises questions about transparency and accessibility.
