The wait for the traditional holiday is overshadowed by extreme conditions: "The city is buried in snow"

Preparations for the Kaziukas Fair in Klaipėda are complicated by significant snowfall, making it difficult for vendors to set up their stalls.

As the Kaziukas Fair approaches in Klaipėda, organizers are expressing concern over the extreme snowfall that has blanketed the city. Kazys Vainoras, the president of the association 'Klaipėdos Kaziukas,' highlighted the challenges of preparing for the event with large amounts of snow and ice blocking key areas, including Sukilėlių Street, the outskirts of Turgaus Street, and Theatre Square. Although the city government has promised to remove the snow, it will require significant efforts to clear the area for the upcoming fair.

This year's Kaziukas Fair is expected to host around 400 vendors, indicating a substantial organizational workload. On Wednesday, reporters from 'Vakarų ekspresas' observed snow clearing activities underway, as the city gears up for this weekend’s festivities. Vainoras noted the critical nature of timely preparations and expressed cautious optimism as local authorities assured him that everything would be ready in time for the event.

The Kaziukas Fair is a significant cultural and commercial gathering in Klaipėda, and the current weather conditions pose a serious threat to both the logistics of the event and the experience of attendees. The commitment of city officials to rectify the situation before the weekend should help ease concerns, but the heavy snow remains a notable impediment as organizers strive to create an enjoyable atmosphere for celebrating local traditions amidst unusual weather challenges.
